A New Name,
The Same
Commitment
to People
Published · August 2026 8 minute read
Sometimes the most significant changes happen quietly. Changing the name of my business wasn't about becoming someone different. It was about becoming more myself.
For years, many people have known me through Treasured Memories Photography. It has been part of countless weddings, family celebrations, portraits, documentary projects and friendships. It has helped me build a business I am incredibly proud of.
But over time, I realised something.
The photographs had always been deeply personal.
Perhaps it was time for the business to be too.
Looking Back
Photography wasn't where my working life began. For twenty-five years I served with North Wales Police, eventually becoming Head of Specialist Operations. Those years taught me that every person carries a story. Some are told loudly, while others remain hidden beneath the surface.
When I left policing, photography became more than a profession. It became a way of continuing to meet people, to understand them and to tell their stories with honesty and respect.
Studying for both my BA (Hons) and later my MA in Photography at Wrexham University only reinforced that belief. The camera became a way of listening. A way of slowing down. A way of seeing.
It's where it all began.

Photography Changed Me
Projects like Working Hands, Pete, Bargees, Villages, and Don't Die of Embarrassment introduced me to extraordinary people whose generosity continues to shape how I see the world.
They trusted me with their stories. Some of those stories were joyful. Some were difficult. Some changed the way I think about life itself.
The photographs they allowed me to make have become much more than images. They have become reminders that kindness, resilience and humanity are often found in the quietest moments.
I hope every photograph I create carries a little of that honesty with it.
Looking Ahead
Changing the name to Rob Kirman Photography isn't about leaving anything behind. It isn't a rebrand for the sake of it. It's simply a reflection of who now stands behind the camera.
The values remain exactly the same. Take time. Listen carefully. Never rush people. Create photographs that feel natural rather than staged. Make every client feel genuinely welcome.
Whether you're inviting me to photograph your wedding, your family, your business or your personal story, I want the experience to feel relaxed, enjoyable and authentic.
The camera is simply the tool. People have always been the purpose. And they always will be.

A name may change over time, but the reasons for picking up a camera should never have to.

Photographer · Teacher · Storyteller
A new name doesn't change the person behind the camera, it simply reflects them more honestly. This new chapter brings together everything I've learned through photography, teaching and the remarkable people who have trusted me with their stories. If there's one belief that connects every project you'll find here, it's that meaningful photographs always begin with meaningful conversations.
