About Rob

Photographer. Teacher. Storyteller.

Above all, a people person.

I believe the most meaningful photographs begin with a connection.

Whether I'm documenting a wedding, creating portraits, photographing a business or teaching someone to use their camera, my approach is always the same: take the time to listen, build trust and create something honest, personal and lasting.

Everything begins

with people.

My Story

I grew up in North Wales, surrounded by hills, history and stories waiting to be discovered. After twenty-five years serving as a police officer, I reached a point where I realised that photography had become far more than a hobby, it had become the way I wanted to spend the next chapter of my life.

That decision led me to Wrexham University, where I completed a First Class BA (Hons) in Film & Photography, followed by a Master's degree in Photography, and finally the Post Compulsory Education and Training degree. Those years challenged me creatively, strengthened my understanding of visual storytelling and confirmed something I had always believed: every person has a story worth telling.

Today I divide my time between photographing weddings and families, working with businesses, teaching photography and pursuing long-term documentary projects that explore people, community and identity across North Wales and beyond.

Whatever the commission, my goal remains the same, to create photographs that feel authentic, thoughtful and timeless.

What Drives Me

People

People have always been at the centre of my work. I love photographing genuine moments, honest emotion and the relationships that make every story unique.

Stories

Every photograph has the potential to preserve something that would otherwise be forgotten. I'm interested in the moments between the obvious ones, the quiet details that often become the most meaningful.

Craft

Great photography is built on more than good equipment. Light, composition, timing and patience all matter, but so does taking pride in creating work that will stand the test of time.

Connection

The best photographs happen when people feel relaxed enough to be themselves. Building trust isn't part of the process—it is the process.

A Few Things About Me

Away from photography you'll usually find me walking with my wife Ursula and our dogs, planning the next adventure, exploring North Wales or enjoying a good coffee with a notebook close by.

A few things that make me smile:

  • Long walks with my camera

  • Coffee and conversation

  • Traditional pubs and real beer

  • Documentary books and photography exhibitions

  • Historic places and quiet villages

  • Learning something new every day

Let's create something meaningful together.

My Approach

I believe photography should be an enjoyable experience rather than something to worry about.

My role is to help you feel comfortable, guide you gently when needed and create photographs that feel natural rather than forced.

The result is a relaxed experience and images that genuinely reflect who you are.

Experience

From weddings and family portraits to commercial commissions, university teaching and documentary exhibitions, every project has helped shape the photographer I am today.

Each experience brings new ideas, fresh perspectives and a continued commitment to producing work of the highest standard.

Teaching

Teaching has become an important part of my photography journey.

Helping others discover confidence behind the camera is incredibly rewarding, and sharing knowledge continues to influence the way I approach my own creative work.

Let's Start a Conversation

Whether you're planning a wedding, celebrating a growing family, looking for commercial photography, interested in a workshop or simply have an idea you'd like to explore, I'd love to hear from you.

Every project begins with a conversation, and every conversation begins with someone taking the first step.
